Care Guide | Dawnsk

Care Instructions

Each pair of Dawnsk custom hand-painted sneakers is a wearable work of art created by hand.

Gentle cleaning, careful wear, and proper storage can help preserve the hand-painted design, upper material, and overall condition of your sneakers. Because materials vary by shoe model, always use the gentlest suitable cleaning method and avoid excessive moisture or friction.

Care Essentials

To reduce unnecessary wear or damage to the hand-painted design and upper material:

  • Do not machine wash or soak the entire shoe for extended periods.
  • Avoid stiff brushes, aggressive scrubbing, or repeated rubbing on hand-painted areas.
  • Do not use bleach, alcohol, nail-polish remover, solvents, or other harsh cleaning products.
  • Do not use a hairdryer, tumble dryer, heater, or other high-temperature equipment to speed up drying.
  • After cleaning, allow the sneakers to air dry naturally in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.

Daily Cleaning

1. Remove Surface Dust

Use a clean, dry soft cloth or soft-bristled brush to gently remove dust from the upper, laces, and edges of the sole.

When cleaning near hand-painted areas, keep friction to a minimum and avoid repeatedly brushing the same spot.

2. Clean Minor Stains

Lightly dampen a clean soft cloth and gently dab or wipe the stained area.

Avoid soaking the upper or rubbing one area for an extended period. If the stain does not lift with gentle cleaning, stop rather than increasing pressure or moisture.

3. Clean Non-Painted Areas

For sole edges or other areas without hand-painted artwork, a small amount of mild cleaner may be used for spot cleaning if it is suitable for the shoe material.

Before using any new cleaning product, test a small amount on an inconspicuous area and check for discoloration, staining, or changes to the material before continuing.

4. Air Dry Naturally

After cleaning, gently blot away excess moisture with a clean dry cloth. Leave the sneakers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area to air dry naturally.

Do not use direct sunlight, a hairdryer, tumble dryer, heater, or other high-temperature method to accelerate drying.

Special Care

Rain or Water Exposure

Use a clean soft cloth to gently blot away surface moisture as soon as possible. Do not rub the hand-painted design aggressively.

You may place clean, dry, non-transfer paper inside the shoes to help absorb moisture and support their shape, then allow them to air dry naturally in a cool, well-ventilated area.

Stubborn Stains

If a stain cannot be removed with gentle spot cleaning, do not continue scrubbing or increase the amount or strength of the cleaning product.

Unsure About a Cleaning Product?

Test a small amount on an inconspicuous area first. If you are still unsure, stop cleaning and contact Dawnsk before proceeding.

Wear & Storage

Custom hand-painted sneakers are wearable handcrafted items. To help preserve their condition, avoid wearing them in situations such as:

  • Heavy rain, standing water, or muddy conditions
  • Strenuous outdoor sports or high-friction activities
  • Environments where the shoes are likely to be scratched, impacted, or heavily stained
  • Prolonged exposure to high temperatures

If dust or light stains appear after wear, clean them gently as soon as practical.

Before storage, make sure both the upper and interior are completely dry. Store the sneakers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, humidity, and heavy pressure.

For long-term storage, clean shoe trees or non-transfer filler paper can help maintain shape. Air the shoes periodically if they are stored for extended periods.

Natural Wear & Care Support

With normal wear, hand-painted sneakers may gradually show signs of use in areas that flex, experience frequent friction, or contact the ground.

The amount of wear can vary depending on the shoe material, frequency of use, environment, cleaning methods, and individual wearing habits.

Proper care can help preserve the artwork, but it cannot completely prevent natural creasing, friction, fading, or other signs of wear over time.

If you are unsure how to handle a stain or damaged area, stop cleaning, take clear photos, and contact Dawnsk.

To help us understand the situation, please provide:

  • Order number
  • Overall photos of the sneakers
  • Close-up photos of the affected area
  • When and how the issue occurred
  • Any cleaning method or product already used

We will review the information and provide care guidance based on the artwork, shoe material, and actual condition.

Damage caused by machine washing, prolonged soaking, aggressive scrubbing, harsh cleaning products, high-temperature drying, or other unsuitable treatment may not be considered a manufacturing issue with the hand-painted artwork.

If you are unsure about a cleaning method or product, contact Dawnsk before proceeding.
